GIPS — Geo Information Presentation Services

GIPS is a visualization tool that reads the Worst Case TrLim file generated by TARA and presents it as an interactive point-of-interconnection heat map. It is composed of three applications: Lite, Pro, and Desktop.

Requirements

A registered installation of TARA v2025.3.1 or greater. See Requirements.

Choose your edition

EditionWhat it is
GIPS LiteInterconnections, constraints per interconnection, and a map of all buses — everything needed to satisfy FERC 2023 heat-map requirements.
GIPS ProAdds harmers per flowgate and displays branch constraints, transformers, and harmers on the map. For your intranet.
GIPS DesktopAdds loading and merging of multiple result files into single- or multi-scenario datasets for Lite or Pro to host.

The GIPS workflow

  1. Run the study in TARA. TARA generates the Worst Case TrLim file (WClusterTrLimSumJson.json) that GIPS reads.
  2. Load and customize in GIPS Desktop. Load one or more result files, merge or keep as separate scenarios, and configure grids, ranges, legend, logo, and tour. Press F5 to test configuration changes.
  3. Save and deploy. Export the web files, configuration, and loaded scenarios — then hand the directory to your IT organization to post to the web or intranet.
